Serenade Radio started off as an online-only service, based in London. Its programming revolves around passion for 50s, 60s and 70s music. The presenters are mostly well-known, giving up their time to broadcast their shows for free, due to the way in which the station targets an audience which responded so positively to having somewhere that plays the music it does. The main audience for this station is the over-60s, and the presenters and people involved in the station are ex BBC Radio 2, Classic FM and BFBS Radio staff.

It has recently launched on DAB for the first time. It broadcasts on Dorset's "Bournemouth" multiplex, covering an area with a population of around 775,000 people.

Radio Station Rating:
It's great to have radio stations like this. They start out modestly online, and slowly get bigger and expand on to different platforms. This radio station is no exception. This station caters for a unique audience, which is not best served on traditional radio. The fact that it broadcasts on DAB is a plus, and it clearly has plans to expand to other parts of the UK. But for us, it's definately a great station for the over-60s.
